Purpose of Role
To provide the central point of reference for script development in the Drama Department and to provide administrative and script development support on a day-to-day basis to the Drama Development Team.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Log all material received by the department and ensuring it is read and reported on, either by you, external readers or a member of the development team. You will also need to ensure that once material has been reported on, that the department has responded to the sender.
Read scripts, books and pitches and prepare script reports and synopses.
Be the point of contact with the external readers, engaging them, responsible for sending them reading material and managing their invoices.
Manage and update the Drama slate
Draw up agendas and minute the drama development meetings
Undertake availability checks for writers and book rights.
Assist with writing and editing pitch documents for new projects.
Research for projects, which can involve anything from sourcing appropriate reading material to finding suitable advisors.
Source new writers, projects and potential books for the department and develop a good
relationship with the various agencies. You will keep the department informed of upcoming plays.
Take notes at script meetings with writers / research meetings /story conferences.
Make script amendments on Final Draft
Maintain a log of all material submitted to broadcasters.
General administrative duties including binding, copying, preparing meeting packs.
Other duties that may, from time to time, be required by the department.

Promote and maintain excellent customer (internal and external) and public relations by dealing effectively, efficiently and politely with matters that fall within your responsibility.
Exhibit excellent communication and listening skills and exercise discretion and good judgement when dealing with confidential matters.
