Slim Film + TV is seeking to appoint a Production Assistant to work alongside the Managing Director of the company.  


The role is to support the Managing Director with carrying out key business, legal, financial and project management tasks connected with the creation of High-end TV dramas and the running of an independent production company.  


The ideal candidate is someone with a genuine passion for the business, legal and financial aspects of getting dramas developed, financed, produced and distributed.  They will be an excellent team-player – working as a part of a small, hardworking team to bring outstanding dramas to the screen. 


This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a professional, ideally with some scripted TV or film experience who is seeking to build a career in HETV drama as a drama production executive or head of production.

Initially for a year after completing a successful probation period of 3 months. 



Below is an overview of the responsibilities that are expected of the role. It is not an exhaustive list and other tasks considered reasonable within the context of this position, may be added or removed following consultation with the MD.



Overview of Role

The Production Assistant provides supports the managing director with key business, legal, financial and administrative tasks connected to the development, financing production, delivery and distribution of High-end TV dramas. A key part of the role is to work successfully and supportively with a small, inhouse team producing high quality TV drama for international audiences.

Key Responsibilities




·      Prepare the agenda for the weekly Business and Legal Affairs meetings and circulate action points from the meetings.

·      Works with production accounts to contract production payroll and pensions services from approved suppliers eg Sargent Disc.





·       Tracks the progression of all legal queries and contracts. Make sure the Managing Director is across all key deadlines and escalate urgent matters.

·       Printing signature copies of agreements and preparing them for signature. 

·      Support the Managing Director and Slim’s Legal Advisor with the financial closing of productions.

·      File deal memos and all fully-executed agreements.

·      Stay across the milestones for contractual payments and notify the Financial Advisor when invoices need to be issued.




·      Work with the company accounts assistant to receive and process invoices across the main business and subsidiary companies. 

·      Assist the Managing Director and Financial Advisor with banking transactions. 

·      Develop close and supportive relationships with Financial Controllers and Production Accountants working on Slim’s dramas to enable the timely approval of payments by the Managing Director.

·       Stay across all HMRC and banking requests. 




·      Keep a diary of co-production/financing discussions and deals on various productions.

·      Oversees and supports productions to comply with best practice on all production processes and procedures including: child protection; crewing up; employment law, harassment training for cast and crew; health & safety; adherence to GDPR regulations and Albert Certification for productions.

·      Monitors updates from the onset Producers and files, schedules, call sheets, progress, continuity and cost reports of series in production.  Raises any issues or concerns arising with the managing director.




·       Works with producers and post-production supervisors, to oversee the post-production workflow and ensure the smooth delivery of productions including specific broadcaster requirements. 

·      Ensure Clearance Coordinators use approved clearance contracts for the production to avoid any copyright infringements.

·      Oversees the correct completion of post-production and delivery paperwork.

·      Ensures the productions follow the Credit Workflow during production and post-production, double checking credits against contracts and unit lists in preparation for delivery.

·      Checks DVD artwork and billings for contractual compliance prior to approval

·      Establishes contact with broadcasters and develops close working relationships to facilitate the successful and timely delivery of all programmes.

·      Ensures post-production Supervisor and post-production houses are set-up on broadcaster’s dedicated delivery platforms.
