BBC ties with TikTok to turn creators into TV talent

Masterclasses will pair influencers with producers to respond to BBC briefs.

The BBC is to partner with TikTok in its most concerted effort yet to help social media talent make the jump to TV, Broadcast can reveal.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will launch a talent scheme called BBC Creatorlab for up to 100 emerging TikTok creators.

The BBC and the video app, which is the most popular social media platform among UK teens, will host five two-day pop-up events across a year, at which TikTokers will take part in masterclasses, work with editors and producers on BBC briefs and develop pitches for commissioners across unscripted, sport, arts, daytime and children’s content.
