DCMS believes happy balance can be struck.
The government is close to revealing its plan for Channel 4’s move into in-house production, culture secretary Lucy Frazer has revealed.
Speaking at the RTS Cambridge Convention, Frazer said the DCMS is confident it can “come to a reasonable solution” in terms of setting a quota for how much content the PSB is allowed to produce.
“We want to ensure C4 is financially sustainable by giving it powers to produce its own work, and at the same time ensure that its support of the indie sector continues. We’ve had lots of conversations with Pact, qualifying and non-qualifying indies and we think we can achieve those two things.”
She said the department plans to come to a conclusion shortly that can satisfy all parties.
