Kevin Lygo defends I’m a Celebrity and jokes about Nigel Farage

ITV television chief celebrates ‘biggest entertainment launch this year. 

ITV’s director of television Kevin Lygo has defended the broadcaster’s entertainment prowess by talking up I’m A Celebrity while joking about Nigel Farage at ITV’s annual Palooza.  

This year’s series opened to a crowd of 7m, with a whopping 46.7% share. However it was the lowest opener of recent years, down by approximately 2m from last year’s 9.1m jungle debut.  

The first episode peaked with 7.8m and earned ITV’s biggest 16-34 audience share of the year with 1.4m tuning in to watch celebrities face the Australian outback.
