Karl Warner and Caroline Hollick expected to leave C4

Head of youth and digital and head of drama understood to be departing as result of restructure.

Channel 4’s Karl Warner and Caroline Hollick are set to leave the broadcaster as a result of its restructure, Broadcast understands.

Multiple senior industry sources indicated that head of youth and digital Warner and head of drama Hollick are expected to depart as the broadcaster reorganises its commissioning teams. The shake-up is part of a push to reduce C4’s headcount by 18%, with around 240 roles closing.

Structural changes are behind the expected exits: Hollick’s drama commissioning team is to be merged with C4’s film commissioning unit; and there is to be less original programming for youth-skewing channel E4, which is controlled by Warner. Also, the digital commissioning team will report to chief content officer Ian Katz following the changes.

Staff affected by the redundancies are currently part of a 45-day consultation period.

C4 declined to comment on the expected departures of Warner and Hollick, but has previously said: “Channel 4 has begun a collective consultation process. Our focus is supporting employees through this time of change and keeping communication channels open with our suppliers and partners. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
