The recently-created 4Studio is the engine room for C4’s digital acceleration strategy, with the mission to create, adapt and distribute brilliant content across the key social media channels. We work very closely with key people and departments within C4 to make this a success.

4Studio is based in C4’s new National HQ in Leeds and is a key component of C4’s regional strategy, creating creative job opportunities outside London and expanding the diversity of the company’s creative contribution.

In order to reach the biggest, most relevant audiences with our world class social media content, we need a world class Social team. The Audience Development Specialist will be a core part of that team.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual with experience, enthusiasm and fresh ideas in equal measure. Working alongside a dedicated team of social strategists, social media managers and sales people, you will be responsible for developing audiences to target through paid activity that supports both branded entertainment campaigns, as well as more holistic audience-growth for core social accounts.

The Audience Development Specialist requires a passion and strong knowledge of social audiences, paid targeting and segmentation strategies using advertising tools on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

This role is based in the new National HQ in Leeds will be required to liaise with the broader team on any given project including the Social Strategists, Social Media Managers, and Sales team as well as with other C4 departments, to ensure as coherent an approach as possible.


  • Developing audience strategies for commercial campaigns and holistic audience growth on a variety of social accounts.
  • Segment, build and target audiences to aid audience growth.
  • Work closely with Sales and Media Planning teams to respond to briefs with clear, targeted paid strategies.
  • Manage commercial campaigns and optimise to the best performing posts for each campaign
  • Work with the Creative Strategists in recommending where spend should go when campaigns are live
  • Utilise best in market knowledge of re-targeting audiences across all social platforms, in particular YouTube, Facebook, Tiktok, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • You will be responsible for ensuring maximum profit margins on commercial campaigns 
  • Create pre and post-campaigns reports suitable to a variety of stakeholder groups including C4 clients
  • Strategizing and implement paid media campaigns. 
  • Be abreast of developments in the world of social media and what the implications might be for us.
  • Follow briefs very closely, but also take a loose brief and return work of an excellent standard.
  • Manage key stakeholders effectively and work collaboratively to prioritise competing demands. Cool under pressure and excellent powers of persuasion are required.


Technical & Professional Skills

  • Must be very familiar with a variety of social platform paid and advertising products, and comfortable setting up and running paid campaigns.
  • Must have a good knowledge of all areas of online marketing, and paid strategy, with specific reference to social video content.
  • Important for the job holder to keep up to date with creative and digital / social media trends and have a passion for cutting edge creative and innovation.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of processes, workflows, tools and methodologies.
  • Autonomy/Judgement/Decision Making
  • Should be confident in making strategic and budgetary decisions.
  • Must be highly organised.
